Michael Olise was born in London in 2001 and developed through several academy systems in England before establishing himself in senior football. His youth career included spells with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before he joined Reading. A left-footed attacker who has most often played from the right wing, Michael Olise progressed through Reading’s academy and entered the professional game while still a teenager.
His senior debut came for Reading against Leeds United in the Championship on 12 March 2019. Olise was 17 when he came off the bench, becoming the 51st academy graduate to represent Reading’s first team. He gradually earned a larger role and made his major breakthrough during the 2020/21 season, when his performances brought the EFL Young Player of the Season award.
Crystal Palace signed Michael Olise in the summer of 2021, taking him into the Premier League. He spent three seasons at Selhurst Park and became a regular attacking option from the right side. His creativity was particularly evident during 2022/23, while his final campaign produced his strongest scoring return in England. Despite missing significant time through injury, Olise scored 10 Premier League goals in 19 appearances during 2023/24.
Bayern Munich signed him from Crystal Palace in July 2024 on a contract running until June 2029. Michael Olise quickly secured a regular position in Vincent Kompany’s team and contributed heavily during his first Bundesliga campaign. He scored 12 league goals and supplied 15 assists as Bayern won the 2024/25 Bundesliga championship. His performances earned him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award and Bayern supporters also voted him the club’s Player of the Season.
His second campaign in Germany brought another increase in production. Olise finished the 2025/26 Bundesliga season with 15 goals and a league-leading 19 assists. He became one of only two Bundesliga players since 2004/05 to reach at least 15 goals and 15 assists in a single campaign. Bayern successfully defended the league title, and Olise was selected as Bundesliga Player of the Season.
Bayern also returned to success in the DFB-Pokal during 2025/26. Michael Olise featured throughout the campaign and started the final against VfB Stuttgart in Berlin. Bayern won 3-0 to complete a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double. Across all competitions that season, Olise recorded 25 goals and 28 assists in 57 appearances according to Bayern’s end-of-season figures, and the club’s supporters voted him Player of the Season for a second consecutive year.
His international career developed alongside his rise in Munich. Michael Olise represented France at under-18 and under-21 level before playing for the French Olympic team at the 2024 Paris Games. France reached the final and received the silver medal after losing to Spain. He made his senior France debut against Italy in September 2024.
Michael Olise became a regular senior international and travelled to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He produced seven assists during the tournament, setting a new record for assists in a single World Cup as France reached the semi-finals and ultimately finished fourth. The French Football Federation recorded him with 22 senior appearances and seven goals after the tournament.
His success continued when club football resumed. Bayern faced Borussia Dortmund in the German Supercup in August 2026. Olise started on the right and scored Bayern’s second goal shortly before half-time as the German champions won 2-1. The victory gave him another domestic trophy after the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal successes of the previous campaign.
By the opening weeks of 2026/27, Olise had also maintained his attacking output for Bayern. The club’s current first-team statistics listed him with eight goals and three assists from his first seven competitive appearances of the season, continuing a Bayern spell that had already brought league titles, a domestic cup and German Supercup honours.
